Block Captain Duties
To Do List for Block Captains before the drill:

GET TO KNOW YOUR BLOCK 
  • Introduce yourself and the Springville Drill to any new neighbors 
  • Be sure to include everyone, paying particular attention to rental units and those who you may not see often
  • NEW! Please tell your block residents to sign up  for (or update their account in ) the city emergency notification system​   Click HERE to go to the Emergency Notification System registration page

MEET WITH YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS SPECIALIST 
  • Work together to update block information
  • Review block captain responsibilities
  • If you have an Assistant Block Captain, review with her/him responsibilities during the drill and during a disaster

INFORM THE RESIDENTS ON YOUR BLOCK OF DRILL SPECIFICS
  • Fliers and other promotional information may be given to you or are available to be printed from this site (see the Advertising tab above) 
  • Deliver fliers to the houses within your block
  • As you talk to the residents within your block answer any of their questions about the drill and thoughtfully consider any concerns​

Ongoing Block Captains responsibilities: 

​KEEP IN TOUCH WITH YOUR BLOCK
  • Be aware of any emergency situations in the area and keep your block updated with pertinent information
  • Learn of any special/functional or access needs on your block.  Keep those needs in mind during an emergency situation. 
  • Answer any questions from residents and encourage preparedness efforts.
  • Promote attending preparedness fairs, CERT training, first aid certifications and other opportunities offered by the Stake or community
  • Report any emergency needs to the Bishop/Neighborhood Commander, Ward Preparedness Specialist or the appropriate source of help.  FOR LIFE THREATENING EMERGENCIES-DIAL 911​
